• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Gentlemen, a reminder, I am a total aircooled newbie - - -
I purchased a flying 0-320-E2D in Sept. 2014. The oil was changed, Cam Guard added then removed from the airframe. When I got it home fogging oil was sprayed in every open port then they were plugged. It has sat that way since. My plan was to get it mounted on the frame with a temporary inst. panel and run it and check compression etc. That will happen this summer. But, I was thinking that maybe I should have it checked out by someone who knows much more about aircooled engines than I do and if it needs rebuilding, top overhaul, whatever then I think I should be having that done now.
The engine has never been overhauled and has 2100 hrs. on it.
My only plan right now is to switch out the carb. for a TBI.
I would like to know what you would do if this were your engine. Also, if having it checked out / rebuilt is a good idea then where would you send 'your' engine ?
Thank you,
