• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I think I know how this part goes together, but I'd like to double-check with you guys that I'm reading the plans correctly.

Referencing the plans section below, I'm looking at the largest part, which is 3" wide, has what appears to be two bends in it, and has two holes in it. Specifically, the short lip that has the arrows pointing to it -- is that part bent from the main body of the part, or welded on? It looks like it's bent, but there's no bend radius noted, and it's drawn as if it's got no radius at all.

The diagonal side support pieces also look like they might be bent rather than welded, with that dashed line in the left-hand view. Did Ed expect people to make up the flat pattern and bend this up, or is it really six different pieces that are edge-welded together? It makes much more sense to me as a collection of individual pieces that are welded (though that presents its own jigging problems).

Thoughts?
