Greetings from the UK where our Starduster under repair made another step this week, we had the rebuilt engine running for the first time.
All appears OK so far but one issue that has now come up is that the Westach electronic impulse tachometer is only fed from one mag 'p' lead. This means that mag checks with left or both read OK but switching to right on the "Left-Right-Both- Start switch causes the tacho to drop to zero.
We understand why this is and we can fit an additional two position - Left / Right switch to overcome the problem, without backfeeding from mag to mag.
The questions are - Is this how it's generally done and is there something we're missing ?
