• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

My son on his IO-540 has 1200 series mags normally bullet proof, but last Thursday when leaving for Arlington his right mag would barely run! On removal of the magneto cap some of wires to individual cylinders pulled out of the internal white silicone insulators, and the distributor cap, but will not or cannot easily be pulled back into their original position! Does any one have any idea how to pull the inner wire core and these white silicone insulators back down into the magneto distributor cap? These are the Skytronics ignition harness, and as you can see the original Slick harness does not seem to have the same problem? Also apparently Skytronics is no longer in business? Any help or ideas would be much appreciated? We really liked the blue wiring harness as this matched our airplanes, but apparently they are crap if once removed? A new harness from Slick for this engine is over $500.00 dollars today! Dave
