• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Maybe this has treated before, my apologies if so!

We are a group of friends restoring an AS2 here in Spain, we do not have that many choices of airfields here were we live. We would like to keep the plane in the place where we are working. Our runway is natural soil (grass in winter hard soil in summer) 480x45 meters.
That makes 1580x150 in feet.
The plane will have a 180hp lycoming and a metal fixed sensenich, we would like to finish it as light as possible.
Do you think we could use this strip? It has little slope, the up slope threshold is absolutely clear and the downslope has a building not so close but a bit distracting when approaching. Actually with few wind we take off in one direction and land in the other, if windy it is not necessary because ground run is naturally shortened.
All inputs will be welcome!
