• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $29.95/year to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

Need parachutes- 2 for my Eagle

Since you appear to be in Florida, I suggest you stop over to Strong by Orlando. Everyone has different body dimensions and you are going to have the best opportunity to get a parachute that fits you and your airplane by trying on different rigs, just like if you are buying a suit. Spending all of those $$ you want a rig that will be comfortable for a long time. Buying from a remote dealer is best done after you have an idea of what fits vs what any particular dealer has to sell.

Another important factor is your weight and fitness. If you are a bigger or a less fit guy you need a bigger parachute. There are 24', 26' and 28' parachutes in the rigs for sale. And they are all made of high performance fabrics these days. Which means that the laws of physics say that it is very hard to beat Pi times r squared and have a smaller parachute perform as well as a larger parachute.

I will note that all of the rigs cost about the same $$. So you can get the harness and container, and the parachute canopy, color coordinated with your airplane so that if you have a really bad day you will at least look good.

And there are "specials" at Sun-N-Fun and Oshkosh time. You just missed Sun-N-Fun and the opportunity to try on all of the rigs there, but if you can wait until Oshkosh time, you can still get the show special price over the phone.

Best of luck,
