• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hey everyone.

I just picked up a S1C with what I believe to be S1S wings (4 ailerons and symmetrical airfoil).

It is a bit of a project as it hasn't been flown since the late 90s. Bought it from the builder and it looks to be in great shape for sitting so long. I also got all the plans etc and a few cool tools. So far, I have bought new bungees, a battery, brake rebuild kits, tires and tubes, and it came with new master cylinders. I have the front torn down to install the bungees and I have a bungee tool but have no idea how it works after a few attempts to try and figure it out.

Haven't started it yet but I think I will pull the plugs and oil the cylinders before the initial run up. It looks like a pretty clean engine and has the inverted oil system. Just worried that the PS5C carb will need a rebuild and will probably go with some sort of TBI system if it does.

Any suggestions from someone with previous experience in this sort of project would be greatly appreciated!
