Was on this forum years ago when I was looking at small planes. Back now as a new Smith owner. ;)

Just read through all of the threads in the Smith sub-forum

I think I bought the project that Patriot looked at in Dec. Fast forward to a month or two ago and it was being advertised with an O200 on it for a little more money than what he was looking at it for. It does come with all the logs for both engine and airframe, the plane is very complete, and the engine, while it has been sitting some time, seems in good condition. All in all, I think it was a pretty good deal so far. Time will tell. ;)

Trailered it to my dad's (on same strip BJ lives on) and go the wings back on it and everything set in place. Other than a little fiddling here and there, I haven't been able to do much work to it as I live six hours away and work keeps me busy.

I've been looking for info on rigging the plane all over the internet and really can't find much specifically for the Smith - like cable tension. Any numbers out there? I do have the original plans, but they're pretty vague. ;)

The original logs call for the datum point to be across two spots that no longer seem to exist. Is it too much of a stretch to use the top longerons? Any other ideas on where to start?

Going to lean on BJ and his experience with two of them a lot, I think! ;)
