• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $29.95/year to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

My buddy has a nice 1942 Stearman that I fly all the time. It was one of John Desmond's airplanes that got sold along with his collection when he died. The airframe was rebuilt in 2015 and covered with Cenconite. It has a low time (old overhaul) Continental 220 that runs excellent and is not messy like most. Redline brakes, Jasco Alternator. $112,500 or will trade for another plane???? He likes all planes. Maule, 172,182,180, Cub, RV? What you got?

That would be an enjoyable upgrade from the Champ. Now, where to find $80k+...

If it was a 450, then I'd be offering my L-39 as trade fodder.

Nice looking ship though!

I've only had 1 ride in a Stearman. I understand the love affair.
Agreed. I always figured they were slow and tired, but flying a Stearman (220, 2 aileron at that) was one of the pleasures of my life.
