• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

First flight on my S2C after my annual yesterday and somehow my full forward prop rpm has increased into the 2900’s. MT prop with a PCU5000 gov and Horizon digital tach. I noticed it on takeoff and got it back in the green as soon as I left the ground. The prop functions perfectly. It just seems as if someone adjusted the stops but it wasn’t touched. I had the prop balanced and my rpm’s matched the rpm on the laser for the balance computer so I don’t think it’s an indication error. After a 30 min flight, I entered the pattern and set 2700 rpm. I pushed forward a bit more and it still went higher so I just set it at 2700 and left it. I marked the position once I was on the ground so I know where to set it on my next flight. But I’m stumped as to how nothing was touched on the governor and I picked up 250rpm? Any ideas?

thanks,

Brandon
