• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I've been putting some time on the Acroduster (open cockpit + 90 degrees = fun!), and just noticed a new oil leak. Very small, about a tablespoon in the belly after a flight), but traced it to the vent hole on the bottom of the right mag (Bendix 20 series). Any thoughts or previous encounters like this? I have a spare set of Slicks I can put in, but was wondering if I could keep flying for another few weeks with it. Also wondering if I have a case ventilation issue that may have caused the mag seal to surrender a bit? I think il going to put a hose on the breather and open the oil fill on the engine to see if I can blow air thru without restriction as a quick check to see if anything is plugged there. If the case venting is plugged I'd assume the forward seal would yield before a mag would leak?
