• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I am directing this question to Mr. Baxter as he is the forums resident historical expert of Stardusters.
Dave, many years ago at Oshkosh, I would say 20 years but it could easily have been 30, I saw a silver Starduster. This is all from memory so you may make corrections :) It was a very nice plane, not shiny paint but more satin glow to it. I do not remember any contrasting colors, I believe it was totally silver. This plane had fairings everywhere, some of the fairings may even have had fairings ! They were beautiful done, excellent workmanship but there were so many - - - -
I am curious as to what effect these fairings had on performance or were they all for show ? I would like to know anything you can tell me about this plane. I have photo's somewhere, that I have not been able to find, that show the registeration number. If you need this to jog your memory I will do another search.
Very few aircraft have stuck in my memory like this one has :)
Thank you Dave
