    Hey,

Do you guys know anything about this operation? https://barnstormers.com/ad_detail.php?ID=1295611

Any recommendations positive or negative? Some Pitts training would be cool and he's within an easy drive for me. But, "cheapest Pitts training" in the country is not exactly what I'm going for. I think I'd be more drawn to "best Pitts training" or "least likely to let you die Pitts training".

$395 an hour (the rate on their website) isn't exactly the cheapest in the country. That's more expensive then Bill Finagin or Budd Davisson by a fair amount.

Not exactly....I flew with Bill a couple years ago, $365/hour PLUS GAS. Came out to $840 for two hours. IMO worth every penny. And I got a nice red hat too.

Just flew with Jamie Pittman from Discover Flight LLC. Can't say enough about him. He will travel to your location and give dual in your aircraft well worth it.

Jamie is a great stick. Watched him as he was learning. Very rooted in tailwheel, stick & rudder.

I saw the add for cheapest too. Ha. Being the cheapest isn’t always the best idea.

By the way the all in rate that Jamie charges for is $370 per hour not the $390 that is shown in his add. Or you can do it in your airplane for much less. He tailors all training to the individual customer. It's worth giving him a call.

While I certainly see the need for a proper checkout when buying and/or flying a new many $1000 aircraft I do harken back to the good old days when you didn't have to bow to the insurance company.....

You paid for your new S1, got in and pushed the throttle forward. No hull, if I couldn't afford to walk away from it I didn't get in it. As I recall liability on the S1C was $105/year.

Alas I confess to writing the big checks for insurance now and do what they say and own a $840 read hat(two hours/10 landings) from Bill F. to prove it.

    Oh well.

    Jack

PS OTOH the above prevented me from climbing into many airplanes offered to me....I I couldn't buy it I didn't fly it.

Hi guys, Jamie here-- the one you're talking about. Compjtc, obviously I'm a bit bias, but I think we're doing alright up here. Come by and see me. (920) 515-0880 is my office number, or you can email me at jamie@letsdiscoverflight.com. As far as the comments about my wording about pricing in the ad, it's there because my biggest general complaint is that aerobatic training can be very expensive. My Pitts training is $370 fuel and instructor included, which IS the cheapest in the country, by the way. That doesn't reflect lack of quality, but rather passion and my desire to make it as accessible to as many people as well. I want my business to reflect the best of aviation, just as it was shown to me when I was getting started.

Jamie, when Kendall's airplane is done and if you come to him, that would be a good time for a shop visit. He's pretty close. Was nice talking with you earlier this week!

Chris, what a surprise! Small world, I suppose. It was nice talking with you as well. We'll do more of that in the future. Next time I'm in PA for any reason I'll try and stop in to see the place. :)

Awesome, I'll be in Oshkosh the second week of August for a family reunion. Might have to see if we can make something happen.

Sounds good. You may want to call and set something up within the next week or so to hold the dates you want. Things are booking up pretty fast and I go out of town a lot to fly.
