I’m sure someone here knows the history of the Pitts wings. I’ve seen some lower wings that are shorter than the top wing. Most Pitts though have equal wingspans between the top and bottom wing.

Im guessing that it’s the early models that have the shorter lower wings? If so, what model first had the lower wingspan extended to match the top wings? And why was this done? What advantage did it have?

thanks!
