I'm not sure the prop that came with the Little Toot I recently purchased is correct. (I suspect it was just something they had laying around.) It is a 74 by 44 metal prop. From what I've read, the pitch for an O-290 should be somewhere around 48-52 for a climb/aerobatic prop at a field elevation above 4000'. Should I just try what's on there and if it's not right, get the prop repitched. Or should I just buy a new wood prop (fairly inexpensive) with the correct specs? Am I right in thinking that there won't be any serious performance issues, other than possibly over revving the engine, associated with not enough pitch? And, while I'm at it, is 74" a good length for this airplane + engine?
