• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

This is far from a serious topic, and meant only for some light-hearted discussion....

Have you ever noticed the varied placement of the "-" that people use when referring to any particular model (i.e.; S-2C vs S2-C)? I'd say there's almost a 50/50 of seeing the dash placement at any time.

Any official documentation I have seen, such as my Christen Industries, Pitts Aerobatics, & Aviat manuals, have the dash after the "S" and before the numerical digit, such as "S-2B". I've always believed this to be the proper spot. Is there actually any argument or support for placing the dash after the numerical digit? I've even seen airplanes with decals that have the dash in the assumed wrong spot after the numerical digit and just chalked it up to somebody with a typo when creating the decal or dyslexia.
