• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hey Guys

I wanted to start a discussion mainly about the Warner series of engine. I have an opportunity to take an airplane that is currently with a bunch of Warner 145 parts and the engine is whats holding me back.

Over the past couple of days i've started my education about the Warner, the greasing and Mx it requires, the reinforced cylinder, the light vs heavy crank, etc.

This is for a certified airplane. With the expense and rarity of the available parts it also made me wonder if there is another option. I wish i had the option of using a new Rotec. If that was possible i am guessing it would fall under "restricted"? and piss some people off.

This is just meant to be a discussion of whats good, whats not, whats available, etc. to help me make a decision whether to go further with this plane.

Thanks for anyone of you that are in the know.
Dan
