I'm working on the rear control surfaces on my Smith MP and , as ideas pop up , was looking into the future a bit . Would it be acceptable , when covering the elevators , rudder and stabilizers , to cover each bay separately , one layer of poly , top and bottom wrapped around a rib and then trimmed and glued to the leading and trailing edges , and the next bay covered in the same manner , trimmed and glued to the leading and trailing edges and lapped over the proceeding bay by (say) 3/4'' and so on . The pinked tapes would also be applied as usual an there would be no need for stitching because you would have a wrap on each rib and you would have the 1'' overlap recommended in the manual and a very smooth surface more easily sanded than with stitching . Comments please .
