• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Aileron idler arm and bracket...

My metalworking skills are still limited, so I decided to buy prefabricated wing hardware from Steen Aerolab. They weren't cheap, but I have to say they are of an extremely high quality. As an added bonus, they also arrived powder coated! Which saved me from messing with the epoxy spray gun. Mounting the idler and bellcrank brackets was pretty much painless, all went well.

Now I am waiting for pushrod material from Aircraft Spruce, along with some very expensive rod-end bearings from Steen [it seems bearings for airplanes are expensive everywhere - not just Steen]. I have also ordered a slave strut kit from Steen.

Last night I also had a go at fibre-glass for the first time. The foam wing tips need to be covered to help them be dent-proof. I'll see what a mess I made tonight...
