• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Yesterday was a tough one for me..
Canada’s 431 air demonstration squadron “The Snowbirds” Had arrived in my town on Saturday as part of their cross country tour to lift the spirits of the country during the coronavirus lockdown.

my home is on the side of the valley and we are at pattern altitude about 5 miles from the airport, I was amazed.I have never had this perspective watching them from the same altitude as they did their fly past over the city

yesterday Morning (Sunday) they were scheduled to depart but the weather was heavy rain and ifr at best

the snowbirds delayed their departure until late morning,

upon takeoff one of the planes had some form of mechanical problem, ( bird strike possible )

the pilot and the Passenger, the media liaison officer, ejected low level after a stall-spin, the plane crashed into a neighbourhood

no one on the ground was injured

the pilot is in critical condition and the media liason officer was deceased at the scene

i won’t post a video of the accident but they are all over social media

the following link is to a YouTube video titled “snowbirds the first twenty years”
