• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Slight roll to right.

After a 4 year, 10,000 hr rebuild on a AS1, it was finally flying. Everything was as expected except for a roll to the right. After months of tweeking and yanking and twisting the roll is, for all practical purposes, gone. However, there is still one little glitch that still gnaws at me. With hand on the stick, doing whatever, looking for traffic, upsidedown, sideslips to landing, you never notice any roll tendency like after the rebuild. But....fly her straight and level (which one never does in these things) and take your hand off the stick, the stick will move about 1/2 inch to the right and the right ailerons go up 1/8 inch and the left down 1/8 inch with, of course, a slight roll to the right. A one finger push on the stick back to neutral and ailerons go flush and the roll stops. What in the world could make the controls deflect has got me scratching my head. Wash in or wash out like everyone suggests would require control input to OPPOSE the roll. Any ideas?
