• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I purchased Steen Aero smoke tank that fits below the main tank. There are no instructions but it is to be suspended from the main tank via ss straps attached to the main fuel straps. While a great thought to utilize unused and valuable space, I have my doubts about its fit. The strap placement is such that they will need to go between the main and the diagonals, where there is no room. Secondly, there is little space to get to bungees installed with the smoke tank in place. Third, for some reason, the smoke tank is shorter lengthwise than the main so the that front straps on the main are forward of the end of the smoke tank. The smoke tank cannot be moved forward to accomodate this because the filler neck interferes with the main tank and drain fitting.

Has anyone encountered this problem? ANy solutions? Any alternative locations, ideas?
