I am going to have to rework the torque tube front bearing on my airplane. The original builder used two welded saddles as are used in the rear which are not designed to take the fore and aft loads.
The plans I have show a machined steel threaded plug that fits in the front of the torque tube And two aluminum blocks that are machine to hold 2 KP-6 bearings.
Does anyone know where I can get these components? Or possibly have a spare set laying around with a obsolete project?
It actually seems to me a front bearing that can take a small amount of misalignment such as a heavy duty rod end would work even better given all the welding on the torque tube that is unlikely to be perfectly straight.
What have you guys done?
Thanks
