Today I started putting everything together to start assembly of the last of 4 wings forour Hatz Classic. Not sure how I missed this when it arrived but I did and today noticed this edge grain. I called Aircraft Spruce where I bought this, thelast spars for final assembly of the bottom wings. They reviewed this picture, looking down at the top of the spar edge grain with total width of the effected area is just under 5", and said it was safe and met their grade for mil spec.
The face graing is perfect on both sides but the edge grain has me concerned so I wanted to run it by anyone here on the forum who has good knoweledge of the Mil spec for spruce and ask your opinion.
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
