Splitting A Nose Cone

Question for you expert fabricators: Got the prop off my older (1988) plans-built 'Bolt with a Firebolt nose cone to tend to an AD. While it's off, I'd like to split the nose cone so it can be removed without pulling the prop in the future.


I'm assuming a vertical cut right down the middle is the way to go, but what are some ways to then securely fasten the two halves backtogether?....metal flanges, glass in some overlappingtabs, etc......???


Or is doing that to risky from a structural standpoint, and better to just live with having to pull the prop if need be?
