I am new to building a tubular steel fuselage. I was wondering where is the best place to start building the fuselage. From looking at the plans it appears that the top is flat, where as the bottom slopes up 6" aft of FS76. I have a book entitled "Construction of Tubular Steel Fuselages" that says the best way is to lay out and tack weld the bottom, then lay out and tack weld the top, then support the top above the bottom and install the tubing for the sides. It looks to me like I would lay out the top on a flat table and then build a supporting structure and lay out the bottom above the top (i.e. build the fuselage upside down). Just wondering where and how everyone else started their fuselage. Please comment. Your help is appreciated.
