• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi friends,

I'm ready to restart the re-build of our Acrosport. The point where we are is a completed fuselage, and a new set of wings to build.
The ribs are all made and the spars beveled, the ribs are not the M6 but NACA23012, keeping of course the same spar size and distance.
The ailerons will be symmetric inspired by pitts type. These two alterations were may years ago approved by the very Mr. Poberezny, he was kind enough to answer my letters!

I will start with the ailerons. My sequence has to be a little special because I will not follow the plans in this area.
Want to build the basic structure of the ailerons, just to be able to drill the spar and attach the ailerons hinges, which need to be built on purpose because they are obviously different from the plans. Then will do the “mating“ to the wings.
Did you drilled the spar aileron before inserting the ribs? I think this can not be done because of the reinforcing plywood pieces needed for the hinges, so the drilling I guess has to be done with the ribs in place?

Im planning to insert some pictures of the ailerons as soon as they take form.
I know this modification can be liked or disliked depending on the individuals, my point was that if it was an improvement for the single hole Acrosport why not doing it for the two holer?
Feel free to give your opinions and any help with the ailerons building sequence will be appreciated.

Thanks, Jose.
