• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

My friend is selling his 1979 Stits Playboy, SA-3A (single seat) airplane, registered as N6071.
  • Complete restoration in July of 2003
  • Total Time 62.00 hrs. (estimated time from log book entry, logs lost, I believe it to be fairly accurate. Airframe is really clean)
  • SMOH: 62.00 hrs
  • Engine: A65-8F with metal prop
  • New Slick magneto's with impulse couplings
  • Compressions: 76+
  • No electrical system, basic VFR, (very easy starting)
  • Color is all insignia white
This is a really good flying airplane. We get 120-130 mph cruise speed (depending on how much you want to push the throttle). In that configuration, we've been seeing a fuel burn of 4 to 5 gallons per hour.

Plans say top speed of 140 mph, and that's pretty accurate.
Most people say this meets the light sport category, although it's really close by stalling speed, only (54mph indicated). When we applied for a new air worthiness certificate even the fed said, "Ah, really close."

Asking $15,00.00.
