• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

We just came back last night from a nice trip to this year's Sun n' Fun. Other than some airline woes getting there and back, we really enjoyed ourselves.

We had a really nice visit with David Stone, Cheryl and Cheryl's family at Steenaerolab. We met Mr. Tig (Wyatt from Tigdepot.com in another thread). It's nice to put a face to someone you are buying from. He is also a dealer for the CK flex-head torch line.

It was a bit disappointing not to see more biplanes at the show. We made the best of it anyway. We made some solid decisions about an engine and prop for our Skybolt, bought some hardware and tools, more tools that we didin't know we needed and got a nice discount on an instrument order from Aircraft Spruce.

Sorry to have missed Erich, Manuel, Marl and the rest of you that were there.

We also spent some time with the Cub Club where we learned tons about our J-5 that will be very useful when we eventually restore it after the Skybolt is flying.

We are hopeful to make it to Sun n' Fun again in two years or three if we think it likely we will be ready to fly our Skybolt there. It would be nice to see more bipes from the rest of you next time. Next year we will likely try to make Oshkosh. We enjoy both shows and are alternating between the two.

Jim
