I have an ACS Homebuilder's tailwheel, 6", which will be attached to my 1-1/4" flat springs (2). The question is, do I need to modify the width of the steering arm on the rudder? (it hasn't been welded onto rudder spar yet). I made it according to Steen S1-C CAD plans.
The ACS tailwheel steering arm is 6" between holes where the springs attach; the rudder steering arm has holes 3-1/2" apart. It seems like the rudder would have to deflect more than 45 degrees to exceed the 45-degree breakout for the tailwheel. Should the rudder steering bar width be increased for this tailwheel?
