Hi Guys,
I was looking at having the major clusters on my fuselage professionally welded but am looking to do it myself now due to the high cost and the ability to prep the fuselage properly as I go along. I would have been doing a large part of the welding anyway, so I might as well do the whole lot as spend the money elsewhere. After all I am suppose to be building it right?

When I first did my research 1/16” filler rod seemed to be the common size for the fuselage. I have used .035 and .045 for most of the finer work in the tail and controls so far. On the engine mount I went back to the 1/16” rod. What do other people normally use?

The bead width seems to be fairly large on the fuse clusters from what I’ve seen. Fairly standard looking for 1/16” filler where as if I used .045 I feel it would have a narrower width and possibly be a flatter weld bead.

any tips would be appreciated.

cheers,
Sam
