Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody has had experience using the Trig TT21 Transponder. I am considering purchasing one and installing it in my Pitts S-1S.
From what I read, it is a mode S, remote-head, lightweight transponder built in the UK. It can be installed into a standard 2 1/4 inch hole in the panel and remote head is only 45 mm deep. It has a built-in encoder and the total unit weighs approx. 1 lb. The entire package runs just under $2000.
One more question while we're at it. Looking for some info on the best location to mount a transponder antenna on an S-1S. I have seen them installed just about everywhere on Pitts' and was wondering what the most effective/simple installation was. I am aware that radio-waves (COM and Transponders) tend to do weird things. For reference purposes I have small lexan belly windows under the torque tube and a Whip-style COM antenna installed on the belly pan vertically below the seat.
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Andy
