• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $29.95/year to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

After a recent first S-1 solo I am on the hook for a S-1! I was given the awesome opportunity to fly a buddy's S-1S, what a amazing machine! (I'll post some pictures below) Being fairly young I'm looking for either a close to flying project, hangar find, and or a flying airplane. I'm open to anything but the wallet will only fork out so much..tough problem isn't it?

Nick.... What about buying half that plane?

Partnerships can be a good idea on planes as long as the partners agree to the same rules.

He clearly trusts you since he let you fly it.... Try to buy half.

With all the good deals out there on flying S1's why consider a project. You can buy a decent S1 cheaper than a new Kia, and those are cheap. (and worthless)

Thanks for all the help guys! Based on my budget I'm looking toward the high teens and low 20s. That's why I'm concidering a decent project! But if the right one comes along that is flying, which will most likely but a 320 S-1C, that would be ideal!

I have 2 great s1 projects. 1s and 1c. The c is complete less engine and prop, sheet metal canopy, cowling, Instruments and all. The s is a complete fuselage sheet metal, cowling, canopy, instruments, no wings, engine or prop. Both were flying planes, lots of parts, wires for both. The c has been stripped epoxy primed and painted, ready for covering, the s is also redy.

I also have a super acrosport one on here for sale that is very, very nice. Powerful, all the bells and whistles. Check it out, it's a freshly reconditioned airplane, almost all new and ready to go.
