• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi Folks,

I recently and literally pulled my old Skybolt project from the rafters in my shop to restart the project after a 15 year dormancy. After completing an experimental super cub, just have to keep building. I'm sure this question has been discussed many times in the past and probably sounds like which beer would you recommend for a sunny afternoon, but I'm lost in the weeds on which 0-360 variants I should consider for my Skybolt project. I was fortunate to get a new Titan 0-370 built up for my super cub project 3 years ago, but the wait list for new engines is back-ordered beyond belief, so need to consider the used engine market which seems like a can of worms in and of itself. The two critical characteristics seems to be fuel injection and a dynafocal mount. Am I missing anything else? I'm over 60 and not planning on any competition aerobatics, just only want to have fun and wear that biplane grin. I would prefer a solid crank for a light-weight prop. Any shared wisdom would be greatly appreciated.

thanks much,
Wendel
