• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi all.

I have had a basketcase 0-200 for the past 7 years. I bought it to rebuild and my mentor/engine guy passed away. I have a Jr Ace project that it would make a nice engine for, but i need to figure out if i should build it, use it for parts or just sell and pick up another later.

I have about $1100 in it, it has only a statement in a new log about approximate time and "lost logs". I have all including the mags and carb. I think the case halves were sent out but i would have to do it again to be sure they are ok.

In short, i'm wondering how much i'd have to invest to send the engine out to be measured/inspected and whether that could normally be done locally or if its a job to ship out.

I'm going to talk to some local mechanics i know about this..but just wanted to get some quick input here to start. I'm kinda tired of seeing it sit on the shelf.

Dan
