I recently obtained a skybolt that was once flying that I am trying to get in the air again. It’s located at an airport that is a 1.5 hr drive from my home so I’m trying to get it to my airport which is only 15 min from my home. Outside of an oil change, conditional inspection, and weight and balance, the wing root covers need to be made. I was reading though the manual and it claims it should not be flown without them but I am questioning how much this will actually affect flight. Once it’s back to my home base (30 min flight) I will develop them but I’m looking to get it home ASAP. Has anyone flown without them before? Any issues?
