Ok the fairings top and bottom almost done..
Fairings finished.. paint next.
Actually they’re filled and sanded so when I get home from my trip I’ll post some better pictures of the finished product completely.
Ok here are the filled and sanded fairings. Not a huge update, but been working a ton lately and should’ve posted them last week. I’m using #6 machine screws for securing the fairings. Tinnermans on the wheel fairings, but not on the transition fairings since there wasn’t much material to countersink them.
Oh by the way Smizo, why aren’t the Gear rods drilled for a cotter pin?! Just noticed this the other day.. is there another way to secure the axle nut?? Thanks! Greg
Looking great Greg! we do not drill the axles because different peoples wheels line up in different places. you do have some adjustment with the different holes on the axle nut but we just leave that up to you to tighten the nut properly and then mark the axle at that location to drill.
Ok gotcha thanks!
Looks like the same modeling clay I'm using to build the fairing molds at the cowling and at the wheelpants on my Ultimate. Side note- HOLY COW. It is a PAIN to fit and align new wheelpants to a plane.
Yes it is a pain! That’s why I hired a friend of mine to help out. and as for the putty we used it is called Sculpwood.
Ok.. paint pretty much done! Will post more pics when mounted.. AFTER I drill the Cotter pin holes in the gear legs! ♂️
Ok maybe not Spinner.. how about Drilling the gear legs for The Cotter puns.
Also made an easy jack out of angled steel bar!
Ok, now spinner next..
