• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I read the below statement on one of the other threads. This is news to me and I find it hard to believe. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this problem. I just purchased a skybolt in New Mexico and brought it to Florida. If the statement below is a fact, thenI should have some concern andwould monitor for the condition, I use this acft for what it was designed to do, needless to say Idon'twant to become aware of this condition the hard way.

"After the plane was transferred to the relative aridness of CA, the wood startedshrinking. As a consequence, many brackets and bolts that go through the various woodparts need to be tightened occasionally. This is OK when you can get to both the bolts and nuts, but we've had to cut a few access holes in the wings in order to get to these fittings"

Thanks,
