• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Well, here goes...

By way of introduction, I'm a Pietenpol-owning, forum-lurking, long-time Biplane-lust-having, bushpilot-turned-jet-driver who is going to take a stab at building my first bipe.

To make a long story short, after one of those "the aviation community makes a small world smaller," connections, I've taken ownership of Merolpn's MA-5 project, and after a long drive back north from Florida, am starting the process of setting up a workshop in my basement and a friend's garage until such time as my Piet sells and the bulk of the project can take over it's hangar spot. Yep, I kinda did a "ready, fire, aim" when it came to grabbing the project before I'd really had a chance to clear the decks for it, but I'll catch up.

I’m looking forward to learning from all of you as I dive into this thing!

A few early photos, because what’s a forum post without pictures:

I’m still inventorying parts and collecting tools, but hope to start making some forward progress in the coming weeks. I figure a little each day, and it’ll get done eventually!

In the meantime, if anyone wants, or knows someone who wants, a very pretty Grega/Pietenpol, let me know! 😁
