We've just repaired one of the lower wing ailerons and the wing tip following a little scraping incident no massive drama, but the little scraping caused a lot of work.
Based on the fact that motorbikers wear leathers to stop their skin and bones abrading in contact with the road and that racing motorbikers have sliders on their knees so they can get their knees down on corners, it occurs to me that something that wears down MUCH less easily than fabric and wood might be an idea in case of future scrapes
Has anybody experimented with this and do other people have protective material on their S1 extremities?
I know that this forum is pretty much free from people who make 'helpful' comments such as "just don't let the wing/aileron touch the ground" etc, but having had this incident after 130+ drama free landings and 67 hours of pure joy in my S1-S, it's taught me that however comfortable one gets with the aeroplane, you'll never be able to see forward on the ground and therefore there's always potentially a bump or hole in the ground that's just waiting to catch one of the tiny mainwheels and potentially whip you round.
