Best Open Cockpit Intercom

I have flown Pitts' etc for 30 years and hardly ever come across a decent intercom. My local avionics guys are recommending the AA85 i/c system to go in a Pitts S2A. I've never heard of it and am desperate to avoid fitting something expensive and finding that it's just as awful as most other Pitts intercoms I've ever come across.
I will use D Clarke headsets and will fit whatever is the best microphonewith mufffor the best result.
Any advice would be welcomed.
