• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Work on the Pitts has been going pretty well, with a few stumbles along the way. The work on the fuselage steel is pretty much done. I should be able to blast and coat all the metal pretty soon.

On the other hand, after looking at my current exhaust tunnel parts for a month or so, I realized it would drive me nuts if I didn't do a better job. I'm not worried about functionality, they would work fine. It's just that they look like crap. Sure it's on the bottom of the plane and most folks wouldn't notice unless they crawled underneath to look.

But I know better.

So following in a path well trod by Macwolf, I'm going at it again. Before I mangle up a couple more sheets of aluminum, I'm going to try something else first. It may be a dead end, but the idea is stuck in my head, so I'll have to see how it works out.

Here's the link to my site, so that I don't have to type it all up again.

Exhaust Tunnel

Thanks,
Ian
