Fueling - Tips, Tricks and Gloves?

I almost always have a bit of overflow - sometimes small and sometimes large - when refueling either the Marquart Charger or even the Cessna 172. The big nozzle and fast flow is part of it but even when very slow at the end that last liter in the hose always takes it up and over. (And I have been at this for 25 yrs!) Also tough to get a good view of rising fuel level from the ladder and a loud and windy ramp doesn't help. With the collective wisdom of this forum I am sure some of you have some tips and tricks that can help.

Second question: With lead fuel in the news I have been coming to realize it is pretty nasty stuff. Do you guys wear gloves when fueling? Do you carry a box in the plane? Any recommended brand of gloves for fuel and general maintenance work?
