Since there are a lot of professionals on here, I though I may get a response....

I need somebody familiar with the Allison 250 series engines to bring a scope and perform a pre-buy inspection on (2) engines in Fort Myers Florida.

These are C40B engines and have been sitting for two years. Ideally, the person for this job will be able to do a good inspection in-situ (Bell 430) and will also assist in placing them back in running service.

I *expect* this to happen this coming week.

Sorry for the short notice - I just received the notice myself this morning.

Anyone interested or with leads, please let me know.

If you're in the right place, meaning Fort Myers, maybe I'll stop in and see your biplane. :D

Bill - I appreciate your time to show me the shops and to chat about your airplane. You have a long way to go, so get back to it and quit wasting time with people like me!!

We ended up hiring a guy out of Pompano Beach area to inspect the helicopter mentioned in the original post of this thread. Everything worked out well.

It was a pleasure meeting you and talking airplanes. You're the first forum member I've met since joining. I have yet to get back to the important stuff, work is definitely getting in the way!

Congrats, I'm happy the trip paid off. How's it getting home?

For now, it will be flown under ferry permit to Pompano for some repairs and inspections.
Then to paint in Lakeland.

It will go to it's final home in the belly of a 747.

Let me know how it goes with the paint shop in Lakeland. We may be looking for someone to do the finish work on the DGA-8.

Bill - the maintenance took longer than anticipated and we had to cancel the repaint.
The helicopter is now on a ship out in the Atlantic somewhere.

When I stopped in at the paint shop, they seemed to be a pretty professional outfit. They are in the old Piper facility and have 4 or 5 booths operating simultaneously.
I saw a good variety of aircraft in there, including a Bell 412 helicopter, a Beech 1900, several Cessna singles, and a Provost jet.

Thanks Harvey,

We'll probably need to do some research anyway although first hand experience is always good.
