• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi all.
I would like to introduce myself.

I am finding the closer I get to forty years old (less than a year) the more I don't want to let my goal of building a plane pass by much more.

I am a F/O on Airbus A320 series here in Canada. I sit around 7500 hours total time from the last 15 years as a pilot. My job history started as loading/swamping/dockjock in northern Manitoba to flight instruction multi-ifr and tailwheel, corporate pilot, fire patrol northern Saskatchewan, commuter pilot cyyz, now Air Canada A320.

The last few years flying became a job and kick the tires, light the fires sorta just fizzled out.

Luckily I married an awesome gal name Kelly, and she thinks that I need to chase the dream of building my own plane. That way she can get a darn airplane ride someday not sitting 20 rows back!
Step one, wife on board, check.

With my model airplane memories still in tacked, and the sound of the wasp junior fresh in my mind from yesteryear, I have narrowed down my build prospects to Biplane and Radial.
Pitts Model 12.

I am learning about building kits in Canada, and will start a new thread on how to get through the Canadian maze of home building. Please look for it and add your tips.

In the mean time, though I am geared up on the model 12, thanks to all who post here on all threads of Biplaneforum, the wealth of knowledge cannot be bought for any price!

Regards,
