(I'll put this here since I do have a SA750)
My Spezio Tu-holer is magnetized in the area of the panel. Low wing with struts in compression, there is significant structure just forward of the panel and the compass is useless. Only place where compass will come close to working is on top edge of front windscreen but can't be compensated.
I have only flown locally in uncontrolled airspace here in WV. No radio and auto GPS (E, NE, N, etc.) sometimes, it just hasn't mattered but I wanted to go to Chilli cookoff @ MD1 today and chickened out since there is the worst airspace in the world between 1W3 and MD1 so getting lost is not an option.
Any thoughts on degaussing? I've heard that wrapping(coiling) extension cord around tubing w/shop light or something plugged in might do the trick? A lot of work to pull instruments and skins but I need to do something.
Option is decent GPS. I have battery/starter but no generator. I'd just as soon do whiskey compass, chart and clock as GPS.
Thanks,
Jack
