• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

    The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi,

I'm a long time biplane guy and just found this forum. I've been lucky enough to fly quite a few different airplanes in the last 40-some years. The biplanes include;

Pitts S-1C, D, E, S & T
Pitts S-2A, B, S
Weeks Special S-1W (Kermit's first one)
Christen Eagle
Great Lakes (2 Aileron, 140HP)
Polecat (original design ultralight akro biplane)

and (if it counts)

Fokker DrI Triplane (replica, 180 Lyc)

There are probably one or two more.

I flew competition akro from '72 to '78 starting in a Citabria and ending up in an S-1S.

I have done several projects including an S-1E, rebuilding an S-2A and being involved in the design, construction and flight testing of the Polecat biplane.

I have a stretched S-1 project that's been on the back burner for a long time. I intend to use an IO-360 and CS prop. Kinda' like a T-model but different.

.............Bill
