• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello and glad to be here!
I just purchased a Hatz after admiring the breed for many years.
This is not a show plane and hasn't been flown in over a year. I’m waiting on the FAA for the ferry permit to bring her home and start the “New Plane Process”.
So......
Before going anywhere, brakes and bungees are the first in the list. The brakes are easy because I have experience with Cleveland and grove types. And there have been many helpful threads regarding different bungee systems. However, can anyone help me with the Hatz bungees? I ordered a pair, per plans so hopefully they will fit.
Do I need a tool or two tools? It has been suggested that the cargo strap and pry off/on method works but as with the brakes, experience avoids mistakes and headaches.
Any help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Steve
