This year at Oshkosh, I visited the first time as a builder. WOW! What a totally different experience.

I've probably attended 10 times over the last 20 years. This year by
far was the best experience, meeting a whole bunch of wonderful
craftsmen and builders, selflessly sharing their knowledge.

I spent hours looking over many different aircraft.

One aircraft in particular was of great interest. Jim Doyle's Skybolt was absolutely gorgeous. Jim spent many hours with me explaining build details and tips to help me out.

Below is a detail of Jim's airplane that I shamelessly stole. I'm sure my imitation only pales in comparison with Jim's excellent craftsmanship. I'll present it case other folks might be interested.

The curve at the wing tip helps the fabric at the wing tip lay down in a nice flowing manner. Jim's execution of this is absolutely beautiful. I hope mine turns out half as good.

Cheers!

Ward
