• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hello,

My friends call me Doc and I live with my Starduster Too in Mississippi. My good friend, may he rest in peace, was an A&P and he built this airplane with an IO-540. I purchased it from him several months before he passed.

I personally built a Kestrel Hawk - a two place, all metal, amphibious biplane with a Rotax 912. The Rotax, although it was new in the crate, had been sitting up for 16 years and has several service bulletin issues I have to resolve before I have a DAR inspect my project.

I also purchased a Cassutt IIIM racer in need of much TLC before it will be airworthy again. I'll attack that after the Hawk is airborne.

The Kestrel Hawk was an easy build from a kit, so my building experience is really limited. I hope with your help that I will be able to foresee potential problems and avoid an unplanned meeting with the ground.

I am also looking forward to the camaraderie with other pilots through these special airplanes that we fly…..Doc
